Yes: the same capabilities. Read telemetry, send commands, trend history, set alarms, everything you'd expect from an advanced SCADA system. No: a different approach. SCADA logic typically runs as one serial ladder. EMCc runs its logic massively in parallel, per Device.
Everything else follows from two differences.
Two schedulers, one for physical devices and one for Virtual Datum. Both hand work to threads and move on. On a conventional PLC scan cycle, one slow or failed device delays every device behind it. In EMCc, no device ever waits on another.
Checks every device three times a second.
Runs Virtual Datum so 1-second calculations always run on time.
As fast as once per second, per device, each on its own thread.
A dedicated looping thread for real-time needs.
Conventional commissioning means controller logic in tool #1, operator screens in tool #2, a historian configured separately and alarms somewhere else again. With EMCc the owner does it all in the browser.
No development environment to license, no seat cost, and no dependency on one integrator. Changes no longer have to go back to whoever wrote the code.
In typical SCADA a tag is a named point in a tag database (BESS1_SOC = 87.4). The logic usually lives elsewhere, in PLC ladder or scripts, and history and alarms are set up in other subsystems. In EMCc, every Datum carries its own.
Battery SOC 87.4 %, with unit, offset and scale built in.
Hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly totals, plus Groups and Super Groups.
Logic and alarms live on the Datum itself, not in a separate subsystem.

We'll connect to a working EMCc site over a secure VPN tunnel and show you Datum, Formulas, alarms and dashboards, edited live while the site keeps running.
